The process — first, we talk

Writertime begins with a conversation — fundamental questions
and no fixed syllabus

We've worked with hundreds of students over 15 years and know time + introspection are required to discover what a student needs. School is hectic. Students are rushed. Teachers are busy. It's reassuring to have an experienced advocate in a calm setting.

Developing the plan

Step 1:  Ask + Examine

Once we've established a path, writing exercises begin — tailored for the student with one goal in mind; that learning to write well involves training in orderly thinking and rational structure. This is where a student learns to ask questions, examine the facts and make judgments.

Pursuing the plan

Step 2:  Investigate

When a student starts asking, the questions become sharper, more frequent and complex. A habit of mind emerges, a broadening of inquiry. With new investigative skills comes more logical thinking

Assessing the plan

Step 3:  track progress

The student now has added tools for approaching every writing project. Assignments become more enjoyable and, almost always, grades improve.

A good plan is like a road map.
Follow it and you'll get there.
